What is Member Verification?

Member verification is our volunteer-powered vetting process for our seller members - to guarantee that each of our sellers makes, designs, or individually curates each and every one of their products. To apply, people first fill out all business profile fields, then reply to a forum post with behind-the-scenes photos from their business.

Why do we verify seller members?

The #1 issue for both buyers and sellers on platforms like Etsy is the proliferation of mass-produced junk masquerading as handmade or vintage. We promise to our supporters and followers that the Indie Sellers Guild Member Showcase and Verified Seller Directory is 100% true indie sellers, and 0% items made in sweatshops. Volunteers, each trained in our criteria, help us keep this promise by verifying applicants.

How do I become verified?

First, you’ll need to be a seller member. If you’re a seller member (and you’re logged into your account), you’ll see a big rainbow button below that says “Click Here to Apply”. Applying is a 4 step process:

  1. Complete your member profile with information about your business
  2. Reply to the private post, and tell us your craft
  3. Attach behind-the-scenes photos from your business
  4. Watch your email (or on-site notifications) for a reply!
